Hi, I'm Emily. I'm glad that you have taken the steps to getting the support you need to make a change to your life, and I'd like to help you. I would like to share a little bit about my experience and qualifications before we work together.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a California Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT#79569), in practice since 2008 (as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee, then Associate Marriage and Family Therapist) and licensed since 2014.
I am EMDR Certified and an EMDRIA approved Consultant in Training. This means that I have completed EMDR basic training, Parts I and II and received 10 hours of consultation to be considered "EMDR Trained". I then went on to complete additional EMDR specialized trainings, obtained an additional 20 hours of consultation, became a member of the EMDR International Association, and applied for certification. I am now providing consultation to EMDR practitioners as a Consultant in Training.
I have spent more than 10 years providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I have worked in school-based services, home-based services, private practice, behavioral supportive services, wraparound services, and domestic violence centers, just to name a few. Outside of direct therapy services, I provide clinical supervision to Associate Marriage and Family Therapists and Associate Clinical Social Workers who are gaining clinical hours towards licensure.
In addition to individual, family and couples therapy, I enjoy facilitating group therapy. So much good work can be done when one is sitting with a group of people who have had similar experiences to their group peers. I have facilitated anger management groups, domestic violence groups, mindfulness groups, and Positive Discipline parenting groups.
I am a strong believer that each individual is capable of living life as their best self, defined by you. Together we can identify any road blocks that are standing in your way, then work collaboratively to develop goals to help you move these road blocks so that you can continue on your preferred path.
I use EMDR as my primary modality while integrating an eclectic mix of modalities including person centered, cognitive behavioral, solution focused and mindfulness approaches. I have found this complementary mix of therapeutic approaches supports your path to meet your goals.
Throughout the therapy process, you will be provided with a safe and non-judgemental space to identify problems that you would like to address. I will be there to offer strengths based support to help you through the process. You already have the tools to be your best, they may just be lost in your toolbox...lets find them!
