5 reasons to give yourself the gift of time...

Whether you are the busy business person or you are the busy parent, if you don't give yourself the gift of time you will experience various effects.  As the old zen saying goes: You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you're too busy; then you should sit for an hour.  
Well, I just don't have the time! you may be saying to yourself...here are 5 reasons why you must find the time:
1. You are a valuable human!  It is very easy to get caught up in "doing" for other people, but not taking time out for yourself to refocus and relax can often times result in you feeling stressed and unable to "do" or help others while operating at your peak ability.
2.  Relieving anxiety.  Stress can build up day to day, especially when you have a lot going on, or there are a lot of people in your life that rely on you (whether this is at work or home).  Not only can stress have a negative effect on your mental health, it can also have a negative effect of your physical health.  
3.  You can re-connect with what is important and positive in your day and life.  It is so easy to get wound up in the go-go-go of work or home life, that sometimes we simply forget what may be overall important to ourselves.  If you're wrapped up in arguments with your teen, soccer drop off for rowdy 4th graders,  or answering 50 emails before 5pm regarding a business deal and you're feeling stressed it's easy to lose the connection.  Giving yourself the gift of time, you can reflect on the gifts and important things you have-whatever that means to you.
4.  To get comfortable with giving up control.  If you are struggling to give yourself the gift of time, I wonder if that is because it is hard for you.  It can sometimes be difficult to imagine, but if you step away from your desk and aren't there to answer a business call, or you take some time for yourself before taking the kids to soccer the earth WON'T spin off of its axis.  Promise.
5.  It can boost your self-esteem. If you take time for yourself you can think of all of the positives about yourself and the things you do.  Acknowledge the good you are doing for others!  Give yourself a giant pat on the back for all the things you do at work or home.
